School fundraisers in Florida, with a catalog that does not mind the heat.

Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, the Panhandle. Florida schools open in the second week of August, and half of every family lives in another state. The online store handles that.

The Florida calendar and the two-week window

Florida law lets public schools open as early as two weeks before Labor Day, and nearly every district uses it. Most open around August 10 to 12. That gives you a long fall and almost no fall break to work around, which is why Florida is one of the easier states to schedule.

  • ✓Fall, first window. The last week of August through the middle of September. Closed before the first report card, delivered by early October.
  • ✓Fall, second window. The last two weeks of September into the first week of October. Delivery before Halloween.
  • ✓Spring. The last week of January through the end of February. Spring break lands in March and the state testing window follows it, so the spring sale closes before both.

September is also the peak of hurricane season. Brian plans for it. If a storm closes school for a week, the online store keeps running and the close date moves. Nobody loses a sale to weather.

Where Brian works in Florida

Miami-Dade, one of the largest school districts in the country, and Broward and Palm Beach beside it. Hillsborough County and Tampa. Pinellas County and St. Petersburg. Orange County and Orlando, with Seminole, Osceola and Lake around it. Duval County and Jacksonville. Polk, Lee, Brevard, Volusia, Pasco, Manatee and Sarasota. Tallahassee and Leon County. Pensacola and Escambia County. Gainesville and Alachua County. District schools, charters, Catholic schools and independent academies all run the same program.

Band, chorus, cheer and dance in Florida

Florida is a competition cheer state. The high school championship runs in the winter and the national championship at Walt Disney World brings squads from everywhere in February, so Florida cheer squads need travel money in the fall. Marching bands build toward the state championships in November and fill September with camp balances and competition fees. Chorus and orchestra programs audition for All-State in the fall and perform at the state conference in January.

Every one of those deadlines fits the first fall window. Launch the last week of August, close by mid September, and the booster account is funded before the first competition weekend. Spring sales cover the next season’s uniforms and trips.

Who this is for in Florida

Elementary and middle school PTAs and PTOs. High school bands, choruses, orchestras, cheer and dance teams. Drama clubs funding the spring musical. Booster clubs for any sport. Charter and Catholic schools that need one sale to cover the year.

  • ✓Zero upfront cost and no minimum order
  • ✓Two-week sale with a scripted kickoff and a day-seven midpoint push from Brian
  • ✓Online store with share links that ships direct to supporters in any state
  • ✓VIP Duck collectibles and a prize program the kids track themselves
  • ✓Fall and spring catalogs with different products, so a school can run both

Brian sets up the store, writes the kickoff and watches the numbers. You share the link. The day-by-day version is on how it works.

Shipping to Florida schools

Giving Market ships pre-sorted orders to the school about two weeks after close. Online store orders ship direct to supporters anywhere in the country, which matters more in Florida than almost anywhere. Grandparents in New Jersey, cousins in Ohio and the family back in Puerto Rico all order from one shared link and the boxes go to their doors. Brian tracks every shipment from Greensboro and handles any shortage himself.

Florida is part of the Southeast region, where most of Brian’s fall 2026 sales ran. Forty sales, more than $700,000, every one run from one desk.

Questions people ask

When should a Florida school run its fall sale?

The last week of August through mid September, or the last two weeks of September into the first week of October. Brian picks the window that misses your open house and book fair.

What happens if a hurricane closes school during the sale?

Brian extends the sale. The online store keeps taking orders while the building is closed, and the close date moves until the kids are back.

Is cookie dough a problem in Florida?

No. Cookie dough ships frozen with the pre-sorted school delivery. Schools that would rather skip it run the gift-items-only catalog, which is the same sale minus the freezer.

And the spring?

Late January through February, before spring break in March and the spring testing window. Book by early January to get the dates you want.
