Georgia

School fundraisers in Georgia, built around the earliest start in the South.

Atlanta and the metro counties, Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, Athens. Georgia goes back to school in the first days of August, which gives you two clean fall windows.

The Georgia calendar and the two-week window

Georgia schools open in the first or second week of August, and a few districts open at the very end of July. That is the earliest start in the Southeast and it changes the plan. You have most of a month of school in the bank before Labor Day, and then most metro districts take a fall break week in late September or October. Brian treats that break as the hinge and runs the sale on one side of it or the other.

  • ✓Fall, first window. The last week of August through the middle of September. Closed, shipped and delivered before fall break.
  • ✓Fall, second window. The two weeks after fall break, into the second half of October. Delivery lands before Thanksgiving.
  • ✓Spring. Late January through early February, or the last week of February through mid March. Georgia Milestones testing fills April, so the spring sale is done before it.

Districts vary. Gwinnett, Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb each set their own breaks, and the rest of the state follows its own pattern. Send Brian your district calendar and he will send back the dates.

Where Brian works in Georgia

Metro Atlanta first. Gwinnett County, the largest district in the state, and Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, Atlanta Public Schools, Clayton, Cherokee, Forsyth and Henry around it. Augusta and Richmond County. Savannah and Chatham County. Columbus and Muscogee County. Macon and Bibb County. Athens and Clarke County. Hall County, Columbia County, Rome, Valdosta, Albany and the small towns between. County districts, city districts, charters, Catholic schools and independent academies all run the same program.

Band, chorus and cheer in Georgia

Georgia takes marching band seriously. Atlanta hosts one of the biggest marching band events in the country every October, and programs across the state spend September paying for the trip, the buses and the competition fees. Competition cheer is a sanctioned high school sport in Georgia with state championships in November, so cheer squads need their money by October. Chorus programs audition for All-State in the fall and perform at Large Group Performance Evaluation in the spring.

Every one of those deadlines lands in the first fall window. Launch the last week of August, close by mid September, and the check is in the booster account before the first competition weekend. Spring sales cover the next season’s uniforms and trips.

Why Georgia schools pick a two-week sale over a fun run

A fun run needs a track, a date, forty volunteers and a morning without rain. A two-week product sale needs a kickoff, a link and a prize program. In a metro Atlanta district where August is already full of open houses, picture day and the first football game, the sale fits in the gaps and the volunteers go home at three.

The catalog carries sweet treats, cookie dough, popcorn, wrapping paper, candles, kitchen goods and tote bags in the fall and a different set in the spring, so a school can run both. The VIP Duck collectibles keep the kids chasing the next level and the prize program tracks itself in the admin site. Brian writes the kickoff, reads the numbers on day seven and calls the coordinator with the midpoint push. Elementary and middle schools, PTAs, PTOs, bands, choruses, cheer squads and booster clubs all run the same program. More on school fundraisers and teams and groups.

Shipping to Georgia schools

Giving Market ships pre-sorted orders to the school about two weeks after close. Online store orders ship direct to supporters anywhere in the country, so the grandparents in Michigan and the cousins in Texas get their boxes at home and nobody carries a case through the car line. Brian tracks every shipment from Greensboro and handles any shortage himself.

Georgia is part of the Southeast region, where most of Brian’s fall 2026 sales ran. Forty sales, more than $700,000, every one run from one desk.

Questions people ask

When should a Georgia school run its fall sale?

Either the last week of August through mid September, before fall break, or the two weeks right after fall break in October. Both work. Brian picks the one that misses your book fair.

What about the spring?

Late January into early February, or late February into mid March. Many metro districts take a winter break week in February, and Georgia Milestones testing starts in April, so Brian builds around both.

Is cookie dough a problem in the Georgia heat?

No. Cookie dough ships frozen with the pre-sorted school delivery. Schools that would rather skip it run the gift-items-only catalog, which is the same sale minus the freezer.

Do metro Atlanta schools do well with this?

Yes. Big rosters and families spread across the country are exactly what the online store was built for. A link in every inbox beats a form in every backpack.
