An elementary school in Summerville with 1,200 students ran its sale from September 21 to October 9 and finished at $45,000. That tied a Charlotte charter school for the top result of the season out of forty sales nationwide. One school, one link shared by families, one pre-sorted delivery. When South Carolina schools start, and when to sell

South Carolina law sets the earliest opening day at the third Monday in August, and nearly every district opens that Monday or the day after. That gives you a long, clean fall. Some districts, Greenville among them, take a short fall break in October, so Brian checks the calendar before he sets dates.

• ✓Fall, first window. The week after Labor Day through the end of September. Done before the October break and before the first report card.
• ✓Fall, second window. The last two weeks of September into the first week of October, the way Summerville ran it. Delivery lands before Halloween.
• ✓Spring. The last week of January through the end of February. Spring break comes in late March or April and SC READY testing fills May, so the spring sale closes well before both.

Where Brian works in South Carolina

Greenville County Schools, the biggest district in the state, and the rest of the Upstate through Spartanburg and Anderson. Columbia and the Richland and Lexington districts. Chorus programs audition for All-State in the fall and travel in the spring.
